?Version 2:Another legend ties the tradition to exorcism. In Foshan, Guangdong, for instance, a monstrous creature once terrorized villagers. The locals crafted a colorful lion model from bamboo strips, then used rhythmic drumbeats to scare the beast away. Since then, lion dancing has evolved into a custom to ward off evil, attract blessings, and herald good omens.
